I was wondering whenever i go to knife someone they always knife me first. I want to know if there is a secret behind it instead of just running up and swinging?

look down when you knife.

Look for snipers, then sneak up behind them.
Or alternativly, get a 64 player Karkand & go GONG HO with the knife, be the medic kit & keep your knife out all the time you'll get it eventually, just will take a few trys.

ive been playing on a knife and pistol server and i always get killed by a knife even though the guy is out of reach, or they will dive and get me is there any secret behind it?

He can't get you if you can't get him.
If you come up to someone, look down when you knife him.
Those guys that doplphin dive make it hard to play with a knife. They dive down and jump up. They have assigned keyboard strokes to their keys to dive and get up and they just keep hitting that key and stabbing as they go.
Just pistol them and stick to the guys that knife the right way and keep practicing. It's like any other weapon, just takes time.

it feels like such an accomplishment when you knife someone. I still haven't gotten any shock paddle kills yet
would it help to jump when you knife?

1 u cannot play knife and pistol it is stat padding (cheating to get pts.) and it is highly against the ROE. u can get reset for this
2 if u wanna be good at knifing, jump around him look down and make sure u knife a little before you come right up to himm because if u swing just a little bit before u r point blank, it will kill him
